I don't know where to use the first part of a compound noun, with -ed or without it.
two-doored car/two door car
three-wheeled motorcycle/three-wheel motorcycle
three way extension/three wayed extension
five sided shape/five side shape
etc.
I'm looking to find the rule.

Whether you be a RANK amateur...
Whether you be a rank amateur or an established entrepreneur, I hope you will find something of value in these pages.
Does rank function here as an adjective or is it used in the sense of if your 'rank' is - amateur = if you are an amateur?
One of the meanings of rank as an adjective I found reads too luxuriant but I feel it doesn't fit in the context too well. Any clarifications? Thanks.

Is my understanding of this sentence correct ?
"As for `sin', he thinks it not a useful notion. He admits, of course, that some kinds of
conduct are desirable and some undesirable, but he holds that the punishment of
undesirable kinds is only to be commended when it is deterrent or reformatory, not when
it is inflicted because it is thought a good thing on its own account that the wicked shouldsuffer. It was this belief in vindictive punishment that made men accept Hell. This is partof the harm done by the notion of `sin'."
Is the meaning of the red phrase that it is thought that making wicked suffer is good in itself whatever this suffering is going to reform them or not ?

retriever stroked
I am reading W. Trevor shortstory on a blind piano tuner. Below is a description of his wife since he has no vision.
"Bat Conlon had the forehead of the Merricks retriever, which was stroked every time the Merricks Broadwood was attended to"
I guess "retriever" means "dog" ? If so what is action when "Dog Stroke"? Or Retriever is a part inside a piano. It is because Broadwood is piano manufacturer.
Please could someone answer. Thanks!

I agree with publication
Dear teachers,
I would appreciate your help with the following sentence, which, as I believe, is gramatically correct, but does not sound natural to me:
"I agree with publication of the recorded lectures at the website of the University."
How would a native English speaker put it?
Thanks a lot!

[General] usage of semi-colon (;)
Hi,
I have identified a relationship between A and B; C and D; E and F; G and H; and I and J.
Usage of semi-colon (;) and 'and' - are they right? If I use comma (,) in the place of semi-colon, it gives me a wrong meaning as I found a relationship among A, B, C, etc.,
Pls help. Thanks.

he lost his nerve
Does this "nerve" refer to "courage" or "gall"? There are two similar definitions for this, and do they mean similar things?
go2-41)One day Howard Kelly, a poor boy, who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way through school, found he had only one thin dime left, and he was hungry. He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his nerve when Grace, a lovely young woman, opened the door. Instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water.
